Backup Battery

The backup battery provides the system with auxiliary power in the event of a power failure at your home. Depending on the age of the battery, it can provide up to 12 hours of power. Should the battery reach a level the system terms as vulnerable to system failure, the system will send a low battery signal to our central station monitoring center so that we may alert you of a pending system failure.

Low Battery Alarm: A low battery alarm means that the system has been running off battery power for long enough for the battery to be drained and could possibly fail if the power is off to the system much longer. When the system power comes back on your battery should recharge. If you are in an area that has frequent power failures your battery will get worn out faster than the average battery. We recommend they be replaced every 5 years. As part of you annual inspection (provided free for those with certain service plans) Northeast Security Systems will test you battery and replace it if necessary.
