Low Temperature Systems
Low temperature systems have been a wise investment for many of our clients. Water can wreak havoc on a home. Strategically locating a low temperature device where there is a water source, also where the temperature is likely to drop the quickest is an ounce of prevention worth doing.
The low temperature device is about the size of light switch plate and can be discretely located under the kitchen sink (a prime place for freeze ups) or in the bathroom in the vanity cabinets or behind the toilet. We like to set the alarm temperature to 10 degrees below your thermostat setting; this gives a window for the furnace or boiler to cycle and a window of time before the house reaches 32. For folks that leave for the winter and set the heat back to 55, 45 is the ideal low temperature setting. At about 44 degrees we will receive an alarm signal at our Alarm Operations Center.
Helpful Hint: When leaving for the winter, leave the cabinet doors under sinks open to let the air circulate and keep those pipes warm.
