Monitoring Options
Should you choose to have a security, fire, low temperature or other type of system installed by Northeast Security Systems you will need to decide if you want your system monitored. Monitoring simply means that your system will activate at your home or business and will also send a signal to our 24-hour Alarm Operations Center. This is critical in the event that you are not on site at the time of the alarm or are unable to call for help. Most insurance companies are requiring monitored systems for second homes and those exceeding a certain value. There are currently two* means of monitoring available, telephone, also know as digital monitoring and radio, also know as wireless monitoring.
Telephone
With telephone monitoring the alarm system is tied into your telephone line. In the event of an alarm or trouble, the system seizes the telephone line and transmits a signal to our 24-hour Alarm Operations Center. We program almost all of the systems we install to send a test signal every day. If we have not received a signal in 24 hours, we will notify you between the hours of 7am and 9pm to determine if there is a communication problem.
Radio
Installation of an AES IntelliNet two-way radio transceiver unit for high security Alarm Operations Center monitoring of security system independent of telephone line integrity. Transceiver uses multiple-path routing technology to transmit alarm signals along the communications network. Supervision of this radio communication link is provided as the AES transceiver checks in frequently with the Alarm Operations Center. For true redundancy we recommend the installation of a wireless radio along with the telephone line monitoring. The most important message we can communicate to current and potential customers is without a radio, the telephone line is the only means of communication. Should the telephone line fail from weather, vandalism or technical problems, an alarm signal or trouble cannot be transmitted to our Alarm Operations Center.
